LYNCHBURG, Va. – CUSA-leading Liberty (17-3, 9-0 CUSA) has garnered national attention, with the Flames receiving one vote in the USA Today Sports Men's Basketball Coaches Poll for Week 13.
The Flames are in the midst of an 11-game winning streak, tied for the third longest in school history, and have not lost since Dec. 10.
Liberty's 11 straight wins is currently the sixth-longest streak in the nation. The Flames are one of 10 teams in the nation unbeaten in conference play. Liberty (9-0 CUSA) holds a three-game lead in the Conference USA standings over the second-place team, Missouri State (6-3 CUSA).
This is Liberty's first time receiving a vote in either the USA Today Coaches Poll or AP Men's College Basketball Poll since Week 4 of the 2023-24 season, when the Flames received six votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll and seven votes in the AP Top 25 Poll. Liberty garnered seven AP Poll votes and two USA Today Coaches Poll votes the week prior (Week 3) that season as well.
The Flames also garnered eight USA Today Coaches Poll votes and one AP Top 25 Poll vote to close out the 2019-20 season after winning the ASUN title. Liberty collected two USA Today Coaches Poll votes and one AP Top 25 Poll vote at the conclusion of the 2018-19 campaign after claiming its first ASUN crown.
The USA Today Sports Men's Basketball Coaches Poll is conducted weekly throughout the regular season using a panel of head coaches at Division I schools. The panel is chosen in consultation with the National Association of Basketball Coaches. The voters represent each of the 32 Division I conferences that receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Each coach submits a Top 25 with a first-place vote worth 25 points, second place 24, and so on down to one point for 25th.
