LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Meredith Engle added to an already impressive resume on Tuesday, being named to the 2025 CSC Academic All-America® Women's Track & Field/Cross Country first team.
Engle is just the third Lady Flame to earn first team CSC Academic All-America® honors in women's track & field/cross country, joining Liberty Athletics Hall of Famers Heather Sagan (2002) and Danielle McNaney (2005).
This is the fourth consecutive year the Lady Flames have boasted a CSC Academic All-American®, following Calli Doan's second team selections in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
A second team All-American in the pentathlon this season, Engle was the only combined events athlete listed among the 15 first team CSC Academic All-Americans® on Tuesday.
A native of Dillsburg, Pa., Engle has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her five years at Liberty. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in cybersecurity after graduating with a bachelor's degree in computer science in 2024.
Engle previously earned the 2025 NCAA Elite 90 Award for women's indoor track & field, presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's 90 championships.
Engle was also named to the CSC Academic All-District® team for the third time, garnered a trio of academic awards from CUSA (All-Academic Team, Commissioner's Academic Medal and Commissioner's Honor Roll) and was included on the VaSID Academic All-State squad.
A redshirt junior, Engle placed 12th in the pentathlon at the NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships to become an All-American (second team) for the first time.
She broke the Liberty pentathlon record three times this season, culminating with a meet-record score of 4,196 points at the CUSA Championships. That performance earned Engle CUSA Women's Field Performer of the Meet recognition.
During the outdoor season, Engle captured the CUSA heptathlon title and recorded the No. 2 mark in program history (5,414 points) at the Duke Invitational.
