Flames Continue Road Swing with 3-Game Series at UNCW

• Liberty remained unbeaten on the road (2-0), downing No. 17 Duke 12-4 Wednesday in Durham, N.C. It is the second consecutive week the Flames have defeated a nationally ranked ACC team on the road, as they opened their road schedule by winning at then No. 12 NC State 9-8 on Feb. 18.
• Liberty and UNCW will be meeting for the second consecutive season at Brooks Field. The Flames edged the Seahawks 2-1 in 11 innings last season on Feb. 28.
•  The Flames hit five home runs in their victory at Duke on Wednesday. It is the first time this season that Liberty has hit more than two in a game. Left fielder Nick Barone hit two of the home runs, while one of Camden Troyer's four hits was a home run.
• Bradley LeCroy was named the eighth head coach in Flames' history in July 2024. He is in his third year as a head coach after two years at VCU.
Flames Hit Five
• Led by left fielder Nick Barone's two, Liberty hit five home runs in its 12-4 win at No. 17 Duke on Wednesday night. It is the first time this season the Flames have hit more than two roundtrippers in a game.
• Liberty also had three doubles, as eight of its 14 hits were for extra bases. The Flames col-lected 32 total bases in the game, their highest total of the season.
• Barone was joined by Landon Scilley, Jaxon Sorenson and Camden Troyer in hitting home runs.Â
• Troyer had four hits in the contest, while Scilley had two doubles to go with his home run.
Barone Brings Them In
• Flames left fielder Nick Barone enters the weekend leading CUSA and 23rd nationally in runs batted in with 15.
• The Liberty clean-up hitter has at least one RBI in seven of the Flames' eight games and in three contests has driven in two or more runs.
• Wednesday at Duke, Barone went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. For the West Virginia transfer, it was his first two home run game of his career. His two home runs were part of five for the Flames in the game.
• The junior outfielder also leads the Flames with three home runs on the season and is third in CUSA.
• Barone has started the year with a .375 batting average, 11 runs scored and has a .432 on-base percentage.
There's Something About Sorenson
• Tabbed by D1Baseball.com as the No. 26th Impact JUCO Transfer Hitters before the start of the season, infielder Jaxon Sorenson has been as advertised for the Flames to start 2025.
• The transfer from Iowa Western Community College has hit .355 with nine RBI and 11 runs scored. He has hit two home runs, including one of Liberty's five at Duke on Wednesday. He leads the Flames with a .474 on-base percentage.
• Sorenson is the only Flame to have at least one hit in every game this season and has three multi-hit games.
