Peter and the Pacers will square off with the Oklahoma City Thunder in Indianapolis in a rematch of the 2025 NBA Finals, tonight at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN.
Peter is the fourth Liberty Flame to make an active NBA roster during the regular season, joined by Seth Curry, Julius Nwosu and Peter Aluma.
Peter was taken by the Pacers in the second round (54th overall pick) of the NBA Draft on June 26. He became the third player in program history and the first in the Division I era to be selected in the NBA Draft.
Peter was the first Flame selected in the draft in 40 years, since Cliff Webber was drafted in the fourth round by the Boston Celtics in 1985. With the selection, he became the highest NBA Draft pick in program history.
In July, he signed a two-way contract with the Pacers. With signing a two-way deal, Peter will be able to split time between the Indiana Pacers' main roster and its NBA G League affiliate, the Noblesville Boom. Peter will be eligible to play in a maximum of 50 NBA games during the upcoming season.
In four preseason games, Peter averaged 10.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game while making eight three-pointers. Peter's best game came on Oct. 11 at home against the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he racked up 18 points on 6-of-11 shooting, five rebounds and five assists.
In four appearances in the 2025 NBA Summer League with the Pacers in Las Vegas, Peter averaged 9.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game while shooting 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field. He scored 15 points in his second game of Summer League play, July 12 against the Thunder.
Peter enjoyed a strong 2024-25 season with the Liberty Flames, as he was named the CUSA Sixth Player of the Year, tabbed to the All-CUSA third team and honored on the CUSA Championship All-Tournament team. He was the team's leading scorer (13.7 ppg) on the year despite only starting two times. The guard shot 57.8 percent from the field and a program single-season record 45.3 percent from three-point range. Peter also led the nation in true shooting percentage (.724). The guard earned CUSA Player of the Week honors on March 9.
Peter and the Flames finished the year with a 28-7 overall record and 13-5 CUSA mark, winning both the CUSA regular season and tournament titles.
