
Mobley Named to Comeback Player of the Year Preseason Watch List

Liberty's Tyson Mobley has overcome much to continue his football playing career and he has been recognized for his pursuit to get back on the gridiron.

Mobley, a transfer from Coastal Carolina, has been named to the 2024 Comeback Player of the Year Award watch list. The award honors the top college football student-athlete who has overcome injury, illness or other circumstances.

Mobley was one of 90 players named to the preseason award watch list. The award has been presented by the College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) in association with the Associated Press (AP) and the Fiesta Bowl Organization since 2018.

During the offseason, Mobley transferred to Liberty from Coastal Carolina after playing in 35 games during the 2020-23 seasons. He finished his playing career at Coastal Carolina with 54 receptions for 652 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 10 punt returns for 48 yards.

The wide receiver saw playing time in four games in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury. Prior to being sidelined for the year, Mobley had recorded six receptions for 71 yards during the early parts of the 2023 season.

The native of Longwood, Fla., was named to the 2022 All-Sun Belt honorable mention listing. He saw playing time in all 13 games in 2022, starting 11 games. He ranked third on the team with 40 receptions for 490 yards. He also ranked second on the team with five touchdown receptions.
