
O’Neill Tabbed CUSA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Month

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Daniella O'Neill has been selected as the Conference USA Women's Tennis Athlete of the Month for November, the conference announced today. O'Neill collected an 8-3 overall record with a 3-0 singles mark and a 5-3 doubles record. Her month included a share of the singles title at the LU Hidden Dual and doubles consolation runner-up at the ITA Conference Masters Championship.
The award is O'Neill's first-ever conference in-season recognition. The redshirt sophomore was selected to the 2023 CUSA All-Freshman team last season. The recognition is Liberty's first of the 2023-24 year.
The Dorado, Puerto Rico native earned an overall 5-1 record when Liberty hosted eight programs at the LU Hidden Dual (Nov. 1-3). O'Neill secured a share of the singles title with East Carolina's Inis Bachir by going undefeated with three victories playing in the No. 1 position. Paired with Maria Turchetto, the doubles duo went 2-1 with their only loss in a tiebreak loss to Arkansas State (7-6 (7-5) to open the event.
O'Neill and Turchetto qualified for the ITA Conference Masters Championship (Nov. 7-10). Despite a first round loss, the pair battled to collect a 3-2 record at the prestigious event. The sophomores exited with a finish as runners-up in the consolation bracket.
Liberty prepares to open its spring season with a home doubleheader on Jan. 17 taking on Elon and Longwood inside the Liberty Indoor Tennis Center.
