- This will be the second meeting in as many years between Liberty and Florida Atlantic. The Flames and Owls squared off last year in the inaugural Field of 68 Media Network Tip-Off event. Liberty will face Charleston on Sunday at 4 p.m. after Friday night's 6 p.m. game against the Owls.
- The Field of 68 Tip-Off is a three-year round-robin series between Liberty, FAU and Charleston, three of the top mid-major programs in the nation. Next year, the games will come to Liberty Arena.
- Liberty is 0-2 all-time at the event. Last year, the Owls topped the Flames 83-58, and Charleston bested Liberty 76-67 in Boca Raton, Fla.
- Liberty is 3-0 for a second straight year. The Flames own wins over Valparaiso (neutral), Seattle U (road) and Carolina University (home) in the early going.
- Liberty is ranked No. 18 in the College Insider Men's Mid-Major Top 25®. Liberty's Sunday opponent, Charleston, is No. 19.
- Freshman Brett Decker Jr. scored 18 points in his home debut against Carolina University. Redshirt freshman Kai Yu notched career highs in points (7) and rebounds (6) in that game as well.
- Colin Porter currently ranks 21st in program history with 274 career assists. He needs 14 more to enter the top 20 in school history.
- Kaden Metheny is shooting 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from long distance so far this season. Javyon Maugher has connected on 65 percent (13-of-20) of his field goal attempts.
- FAU holds a 2-1 edge in the all-time series. The two teams met in last year's inaugural Field of 68 Media Network Tip-Off event, with the Owls holding a No. 13 national ranking at the time and on the heels of a Final Four run the season prior. FAU prevailed 83-58 over Liberty in that meeting. Colin Porter paced the Flames with 16 points and was 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. This will be the first time the two programs square off at a neutral venue. FAU is 1-0 versus Liberty at home, and the two teams split games in Lynchburg back in 2001 and 2002.
- Flames head coach Ritchie McKay is approaching career win No. 250 at Liberty. McKay is 247-127 in his time with the Flames and is in his 12th season at the helm.
- Liberty has 152 victories since the start of the 2018-19 season, tied for the seventh most in the nation in that span.
