LYNCHBURG, Va. – Travel will be limited for Liberty during the 2023-24 indoor track & field season. The Flames will host five meets at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex, and Liberty will not compete outside the Eastern Time Zone.

The eighth season of competition at the Brant Tolsma Indoor Track at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex will see the Flames host the Liberty Kickoff (Nov. 29-30), fourth annual Brant Tolsma Invitational (Jan. 18-20), Liberty Open (Feb. 3), 10th annual Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational (Feb. 9-10) and the Conference USA (CUSA) Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 23-24).
The Flames' first season of CUSA membership will see them host their conference's indoor track & field championship for the seventh consecutive year. Liberty hosted the Big South Championship in 2018, the ASUN Championship in 2019-23 and will welcome the CUSA Championship in 2024.
Boston Bookends
Some of Liberty's top distance runners will chase fast times at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener, Dec. 2 at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center.
Those athletes will be trying to qualify for the 2024 NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Championships at a different Boston venue. That meet will take place at the TRACK at new balance, March 8-9.
Road Trips
Liberty will take part in the Virginia Tech Invitational for the third consecutive year, Jan. 12-13 at Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va.
On Jan. 26-27, the Flames will divide up between a pair of facilities they have not visited in a while. The Penn State National will mark Liberty's first visit to the Horace Ashenfelter III Indoor Track in University Park, Pa. since 2017. Meanwhile, the Flames will compete at The Armory in New York City for the first time since 2007 when they take part in the Dr. Sander Invitational/Columbia Challenge.
Still to Come
Liberty's 2024 outdoor track & field schedule is still being finalized. The May and June portions of the schedule are set at this point, however.
The Flames will play host to the Liberty Twilight Qualifier on May 1 before traveling to the CUSA Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 10-12 in El Paso, Texas), NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet (May 22-25 in Lexington, Ky.) and the 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships (June 5-8 in Eugene, Ore.).
