Ekporere Races to Nigerian Men’s 110 Hurdles National Title

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Liberty's Prosper Ekporere claimed the Nigerian men's 110 hurdles national championship, Thursday at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City. His winning time of 13.66 broke his own program record and set a new lifetime best.
Ekporere's previous Liberty record of 13.67 was set on May 24 at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet in Jacksonville, Fla., enabling him to advance to the event's quarterfinal round.
Ekporere had claimed his spot in the Nigerian final by winning his preliminary heat in 13.83 seconds on Wednesday.
This marks Ekporere's second career national title but his first at the senior level. He won the Nigerian U20 men's 110 hurdles championship in 2021, earning a trip to the World Athletics U20 Championships later that year.
Ekporere enjoyed a successful first season of competition at Liberty in 2023, racing to the ASUN indoor 60 hurdles title and placing second in the ASUN outdoor 110 hurdles final. He then became the second Flame ever to qualify for the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round quarterfinals in the 110 hurdles.
