
Cooley Named CUSA Offensive Player of the Week

Following a career day and leading the Flames to another conference victory, Liberty's Quinton Cooley has been named this week's CUSA Offensive Player of the Week.

Cooley led the Flames' rushing attack, finishing the game against Louisiana Tech with a career-high 179 rushing yards. He averaged 7.8 yards per career and scored two rushing touchdowns.

The running back has scored two or more rushing touchdowns in three out of the last four games and ranks No. 19 in the country in total rushing touchdowns (9).

The native of Bailey, N.C., has posted six 100-yard games in 2023, all coming against CUSA foes. Cooley's half dozen 100-yard games are the most by a Flame since 2014.

Liberty currently ranks No. 2 in the country in rushing offense, averaging 283.3 yards per game. Individually, Cooley ranks No. 9 in the country in rushing yards per game (109.0), No. 10 in rushing yards (981) and No. 28 in rush yards per carry (6.06).

Cooley is the second Flame to win CUSA Offensive Player of the Week honors this year. Quarterback Kaidon Salter won the award on Sept. 18, Sept. 25 and Oct. 30.
What's Next:
The Flames will step out of Conference USA play for the first time since the middle of September when Liberty welcomes Commonwealth foe Old Dominion back to Lynchburg, next Saturday. The Flames and the Monarchs will be squaring off for the third year in a row and the fifth time in the series history, with Liberty winning each of the last three meetings.
