Before taking to the field for their final regular season home game, the Flames visited the Media Room in the Liberty Football Center on Tuesday to preview the upcoming matchup against UMass.
Â
Along with Flames' head coach Jamey Chadwell, the media spoke with offensive lineman X'Zauvea Gadlin and linebacker Tyren Dupree, two of Liberty's 17 seniors who will be honored on Saturday.
Â
A victory on Saturday would enable the Flames to set new program records for most wins in a season (11) and most home wins in a season (7).
Â
Liberty is 4-1 all-time against UMass, having defeated the Minutemen in each of the last four seasons while averaging 53.0 ppg in those games. If the Flames win Saturday, UMass will become the first FBS opponent they have defeated five times.
Â
Jamey Chadwell is the first Liberty head football coach ever to begin his tenure with the Flames at 10-0. He now owns a 41-6 coaching record dating back to the start of the 2020 season.
Â
Liberty QB Kaidon Salter had a hand in all five TDs (three passing, two rushing) in last Saturday's 38-10 home win over Old Dominion, giving him 35 for the season (26 passing, nine rushing). Salter needs four passing TDs and six total TDs to break the Liberty single-season records.
Â
The Flames rank No. 1 nationally in rushing offense (278.0 ypg) and have rushed for a Liberty single-season record 2,780 yards in 2023. Last week, first-year RB Quinton Cooley became the 17th Flame ever to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season.
Â
Coming off a big game (7 catches, 137 yards, 2 TDs) vs. Old Dominion, WR CJ Daniels will look to catch a TD pass for the fifth game in a row, something no Flame has ever achieved at the Division I level.
