CHICAGO, lll. - The Chicago State Cougars downed the Liberty Flames 2-0 Thursday evening in an OVC match at Gwendolyn Brooks College Prep Field.
The host Cougars netted two goals in the first half and then held the OVC's leading offensive attack in check for their first conference victory of 2023.
In its first conference road match of the year, Liberty was held to 11 shots. The Flames entered the evening averaging 2.89 goals and 14.8 shots per game to lead the OVC.
Chicago State's victory avenges its 7-1 loss to Liberty last Thursday at Osborne Stadium in Lynchburg, Va.
The Flames drop 2-1 in the OVC and 7-3 overall. The Cougars improve to 1-2 in conference play and 3-7-1 overall.
