Liberty’s Top Storylines
• Liberty is second in the country in total three-pointers (250) and third in three-pointers per game (11.4). The Flames are also No. 2 nationally in assist/turnover ratio (1.66), No. 4 in scoring margin (16.8), No. 5 in effective field goal percentage (57.4), No. 6 in scoring defense (57.9) and No. 7 in assists per game (17.8).
• This is the seventh all-time meeting between the two programs. Liberty holds a 5-1 edge in the series. The Flames and Eagles split last year's two matchups, with each team winning on the other's home court.
• Against FGCU on the road last year, Darius McGhee scored a career-high 48 points in a 78-75 win, setting a new program single-game scoring mark. McGhee was 16-of-25 from the field, made 8-of-14 threes and knocked down 8-of-8 threes. McGhee's 48 points were the second most by any player in Division I men's basketball last year.
• McGhee (20.9 ppg) ranks No. 1 in the nation three-point field goals per game (4.59) and total three-pointers made (101). McGhee has 467 career three-pointers, fourth most in NCAA DI history.
• The Flames are No. 46 in the country in the NET Rankings and No. 46 in KenPom as well.
Liberty is 15-2 over its last 17 games since Nov. 23.
Liberty and FGCU met last season (Feb. 23, 2022) at Liberty Arena. The Eagles edged the Flames 82-72 in overtime, their first win over Liberty.
• The Flames bested the Eagles 81-63 at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Fla. in what was their first-ever ASUN game (Jan. 5, 2019). Liberty shot 57.4 percent (31-of-54) from the floor and 50 percent (14-of-28) from three-point territory.
• The Flames are 58-12 all-time in ASUN regular season play. Liberty won the ASUN title in 2019, 2020 and 2021. The Flames have three conference regular season titles in four years and one division title (ASUN East Division, 2022). Liberty is 32-3 all-time in ASUN home games and a perfect 5-0 at home in ASUN play this season.
• Liberty last played on this date six years ago (Jan. 28, 2017) and defeated Campbell 72-40 on the road. The Flames' defense held the Camels to 26.1 percent shooting (12-of-46) for the game and limited Chris Clemons (23.4 ppg coming in) to just 12 points on 4-of-16 shooting. Liberty shot 52.2 percent (24-of-46) from the field and was paced by Lovell Cabill's game-high 16 points and six boards.
