Weather Report
Saturday is expected to be a soggy day in Greensboro with steady rainfall, a high around 60 and a 10-15 mph breeze out of the south southeast.
About the Facility
Irwin Belk Track features more than 20,000 seats, as it is situated within Truist Stadium, North Carolina A&T's football facility.
Liberty won four events at the Aggie Invitational, April 10 at Irwin Belk Track. Naomi Mojica produced the top mark of the day with her Liberty and ASUN record-breaking 53-0.75 shot put effort.
Irwin Belk Track played host to the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet in both 2010 and 2013. During the 2013 edition, current assistant coach Isaac Wendland successfully qualified to the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the men's 1,500.
Shot Put Records Aplenty
Shot put records have gone down each of the past two weekends. At the April 10 Aggie Invitational, Naomi Mojica's 53-0.75 effort eclipsed both the Liberty and ASUN Conference women's shot put standards. One week later, Kyle Mitchell's 62-11.25 mark at the Virginia Challenge shattered his own program record in the men's shot put.
Mitchell headlines Liberty's group of throwers slated to compete in Greensboro on Saturday, as he is entered in the men's shot put at 6 p.m. Mitchell did not get a chance to throw at the Aggie Invitational two weeks ago, as the event was scrapped due to an early-evening thunderstorm.
Looking to Continue the Momentum
Liberty's mid-distance and distance crew fared well at last Saturday's Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic at the University of Lynchburg. Some of Saturday's standouts will return to action in Greensboro.
Tyler Modrzejewski will contest the 800 for the second straight week after finishing second in a personal-best 1:53.23 last weekend. Meanwhile, Kyle Harkabus and Joe Spitzer will each step down in distance to the 800 and 1,500 after both setting considerable personal bests in the 5K on Saturday. Harkabus clocked 14:24.46 with Spitzer following in 14:49.20.
