Liberty freshman Denzel Pratt made a successful NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round debut, placing 17th in the men's javelin during Friday's action at North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
Pratt reached 214-1 on his second attempt, finishing 17th in the field of 48 entrants. The Bahamas native placed third among freshmen and became the third different Flame to place in the top 20 in the men's javelin at this meet in the last three years.
However, teammate Steve Feister was unable to compete in the men's javelin due to injury. He wraps up his collegiate career as a two-time Big South men's javelin champion and the school record holder at 234-11.
One more successful career came to an end on Friday, as Fred Fulton placed 23rd in the men's discus with a mark of 175-5. He finishes as a six-time Big South champion and 10-time All-Big South performer for the Flames.
The meet will wrap up on Saturday, beginning with the men's triple jump at 3 p.m. Aklesso Agama and Darrel Jones are both entered in the event for Liberty.
