Liberty freshman Bradley Prentice posted a fifth-place finish in the men's 800 at the Duke Invitational, highlighting the Flames' soggy Friday at Morris Williams Stadium.
For the second straight week, Prentice recorded a personal-best time (1:51.16) and defeated defending Big South men's 800 champion Paul O'Donoghue of High Point head-to-head. Prentice, who arrived at Liberty with a best time of 1:55.47, has now climbed to No. 8 in program history already.
Behind Prentice, Jacob Onifer placed 16th of 44 in a season-best time of 1:54.68. Luke Jelen followed in 18th place, as his time of 1:55.80 sliced three seconds off of the South Dakota native's previous best.
In the women's 800, the Lady Flames' top performers included Alexis Taylor (16th place, 2:18.01) and Jasmin Sutton (17th, 2:18.82).
Assistant coach Rebekah Ricksecker also competed in Friday's women's 800, finishing as the runner-up in 2:10.51.
