Liberty's throwers and sprinters recorded numerous personal bests and impressive performances on the final day of the VertKlasse Meeting, Saturday at Vert Stadium.
Women's Day Two Recap
Sophomore Olivia Behymer finished third in the women's 400 final with a personal-best time of 55.42 seconds. The effort moved the Buckeye State native into seventh place on Liberty's all-time list, and five of the top 11 women's 400 runners in program history are now a part of this year's team.
Corinn Bedell, who now ranks 11th on that list, placed eighth in a season-best 57.21 seconds. Meanwhile, Bailey Reeves clocked a time of 58.70 for fifth place in the participation sections of the women's 400.
Kylie Polsgrove, Reeves, Behymer and Witmer teamed up for third place in the women's 4 x 400 relay in 3:55.23. Behymer notched the team's fastest split at 57.30 seconds.
Earlier in the day, Polsgrove had performed well in both hurdles races, placing ninth in the participation 100 hurdles in 14.92 and coming in sixth in the 400 hurdles in 1:02.77 in her collegiate debut in the event. Witmer followed closely in seventh in the 400 hurdles, clocking 1:03.30, while Allison Corbin's time of 1:07.60 was good for fifth place in the 400 hurdles participation sections.
Sophomore Holly Arey set new personal bests in both of her throwing events on Saturday. Her discus mark of 151-11, which placed fifth in the competition and ranks No. 4 all-time at Liberty, added nearly five feet to her previous best.
Arey also threw the hammer a personal-best 159-0 for ninth place in the event, moving her into a tie with teammate Catherine Oyarzun for sixth in program history. Arey's classmate Dasiana Larson set a hammer personal best by almost nine feet, reaching 170-1 for fifth place.
Liberty alum Jocelyn Williams won the women's hammer competition with a meet-record heave of 210-5. Notably, Larson's mark of 170-1 on Saturday was superior to Williams' best hammer throw as a sophomore (166-6).
Mariel Finger's season-best pole vault clearance of 11-6.25 placed her eighth in Section A. Audrey Bamford posted the best long jump mark by a Lady Flame in 2016 (17-2), putting her in 20th place in the event.
