
Onifer Notches Pair of Top 5 Finishes at VT

Liberty redshirt senior Jacob Onifer placed inside the top five of both of his events, highlighting the Flames' Friday performances at the Virginia Tech Challenge, inside Rector Field House.
Onifer began his day with a fourth-place finish in the men's 1,000-meter run, clocking a personal-best time of 2:29.06. His clocking, which cut more than three seconds off of his previous best, ranks No. 8 on Liberty's all-time list.
About two and a half hours later, Onifer came in fifth in the men's 800, thanks to a season-best time of 1:56.84.
Fellow redshirt senior Kate Flower recorded the Lady Flames' top performance on Friday, coming in 15th in the women's 60 dash prelims with a season-best time of 7.88.
The Virginia Tech Challenge will resume Saturday at 11 a.m. Freshman Bailey Reeves will be Liberty's lone competitor on the day, racing in the women's 400-meter dash at 1:40 p.m.
