
Ritchey Wins Pole Vault at Aggie Last Chance

Ken Ritchey won the men's pole vault title as part of a small contingent of Liberty athletes who competed at the Aggie Last Chance meet, Sunday at North Carolina A&T's Aggie Stadium.
Three days after winning his first Big South men's pole vault championship, Ritchey cleared 16-0.75 to take top honors on Sunday. It marked the junior's sixth first-place finish and sixth 16-foot clearance of the 2015 outdoor season. Teammate Alexandru Barker cleared 15-7 to tie for third place in the final competition of his collegiate career.
In the women's pole vault, Jessie Glynn placed fourth with an 11-9.75 clearance.
Jennifer Smith recorded a sixth-place finish in the women's discus, reaching 138-4 on her opening throw.
John Sherret wrapped up his career by placing second in his heat and seventh overall in the men's 800, clocking 1:55.61.
Less than 24 hours after capturing the Big South title in a school-record time of 45.68, the Lady Flames' 4 x 100 relay quartet of Dana Mercer, Abigail Flower, Olivia Davis and Kate Flower came in sixth in 47.11 seconds.
Abigail Flower, Ritchey, Glynn and Smith are among Liberty's contenders for a berth in the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round meet, to be held May 28-30 in Jacksonville, Fla. The complete field of qualifiers will be announced by the NCAA on Thursday.
