Liberty University Head Football Coach Turner Gill has announced that wide receivers coach Juan Taylor has been relieved of his coaching responsibilities. A search to fill the position will begin immediately.
"Juan Taylor has been relieved of all his football duties as wide receivers coach, effective immediately," commented Gill. "On behalf of our staff and players, we would like to thank him for his contributions to Liberty University and the football program over the last three years. We hope the best for him in all of his future endeavors."
Taylor joined Gill's staff in 2012 and helped Liberty win three straight Big South championships. He was a part of the Flames' coaching staff that helped Liberty advance to the second round of the 2014 NCAA FCS Playoffs and finish the year ranked No. 17 in the country.
Taylor coached a pair of All-Big South wide receivers in Pat Kelly (2012) and Darrin Peterson (2013 and 2014) during his three seasons on staff.
Peterson earned All-America honors in 2014 (Sports Network second team) after leading the Big South in receiving yards (1,379), receptions (85), receiving touchdowns (12) and yards per reception (16.2). He set single season program records in receptions and receiving yards, while ranking No. 4 in the country in receiving yards and No. 10 in receiving TDs.
