Fulton Named Big South Field Athlete of Week

For the second time in three weeks, Liberty redshirt junior Fred Fulton has been named the Big South Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week, thanks to his performances at the 88th Nike Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Competing alongside some of the nation's elite throwers, Fulton placed third in Section B of the men's discus (season-best 170-11), 10th in Section A of the men's shot put (57-2) and 19th in the men's hammer (season-best 179-9).
Through just three outdoor meets as a Liberty Flame, Fulton ranks No. 3 in program history for the men's shot put, No. 6 for the discus and No. 8 for the hammer. He is the 2015 Big South leader in both the shot put and discus, while ranking third on the hammer list.
Fulton is entered in the men's shot put, discus and hammer at the Liberty Collegiate Invitational, Thursday through Saturday at the Matthes-Hopkins Track Complex. The invitational section of the women's hammer will be the lone event contested on Thursday, set for a 4:30 p.m. start. All remaining events will take place on Friday and Saturday.
